Howard County police are looking for two men in connection with the armed robbery of a Jessup gas station Monday afternoon.
Police said shortly before 5 p.m. two men entered the Steuart Petroleum Co. in the 7300 block of Washington Blvd. After all the customers had left, the men, one armed with a handgun, approached the cashier and demanded cash from the register.
The cashier was ordered to lie on the floor as the men took an undisclosed amount of money and fled. No injuries were reported, police said.
The armed robber was described as a black male, about 20 years old, 5 feet, 9 inches tall, and weighed about 150 pounds. He wore a baseball cap, police said.
His accomplice, also described as a 20-year-old black male, was about 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with brown hair and hazel eyes and weighed 140 pounds. He wore a green jacket and dark colored pants, police said.
Happy Wanderers to walk Saturday
Maryland's first capital, historic St. Mary's City in St. Mary's County, will be the site of a noncompetitive 10K walk sponsored by the Freestate Happy Wanderers Volksmarch Club of Laurel on Saturday.
Walkers can start at the St. Mary's City Visitor's Center between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. All walks must be completed by 5 p.m.
Registered walkers will receive reduced admissions to a Grand Militia Muster featuring 17th century re-enactment units from throughout the East Coast. The units will compete in musket drill, swordplay, cooking and historic costume competitions.
The Freestate Volksmarch Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Savage Branch Library. Approximately 150 families belong to the club, which was formed in 1983.
* North Laurel: 9200 block of Livery Lane: A resident heard his front door slam Monday night and saw two men running from his house toward a parking lot.
* Jessup: 8200 block of Wellmoor Court: Someone broke into Video Concepts store Saturday night by pulling out a wooden panel from a rear bay door. Store owners said they have to check inventory before they can determine if anything has been taken.
9300 block of Washington Blvd.: Wicker furniture and dishes were stolen from a Hecht's lot after midnight Saturday. Police said thieves cut a hole in a fence and broke into three trailers.
