OFFICER ASSAULTED/ARREST: Northeastern District -- A man who lunged at Officer Donald Smith with a screwdriver while breaking out of a house in the 2800 block of Parkview Terrace early Tuesday surrendered when the officer fired a shot at him. The man was not hit. Officer Smith was in back of the house at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday when he saw the suspect run toward the front. When the officer arrived at the front, the man broke a window and lunged at the officer with the screwdriver. The officer fired a shot but missed the man, who gave up. The man, who gave an Edgewood, Harford County, address, was expected to be charged with assaulting a police officer, burglary and related charges.
CARJACKING: Southwestern District -- A resident of the first block of Otley Court was in the first block of Shipley St. Monday night when a man robbed him of his 1991 Chevrolet with Maryland tags YPP850.
BURGLARY: Southwestern District -- Someone entered a house in the 400 block of S. Bentalou St. Monday after breaking a window and stole cash and property, all valued at nearly $150.
THEFT/ARREST: Southwestern District -- In separate incidents, police arrested two men who attempted to leave the Super Fresh store in the 2400 block of Frederick Ave. without paying for items having a combined total of nearly $50.
ROBBERY: Northern District -- A resident of the 800 block of Druid Park Drive was walking a block from her home Monday when a man stole her purse containing cash and property, all valued at more than $300.
BURGLARY: Northern District -- Someone entered a house in the 4800 block of Laurel Ave. through a rear window Monday and stole a gold bracelet, a VCR and a boom-box radio, all valued at nearly $660.
BURGLARY: Northern District -- Two 10-speed bikes worth $1,100 were stolen from a house in the 100 block of Hawthorne Road between Oct. 1 and Monday by someone who entered through a side window.
BURGLARY: Western District -- Police were seeking several youths who entered Franklin Square Elementary School in the 1400 block of W. Lexington St. Monday after breaking a window. A school security officer responding to the scene saw the youths running from the building.
SHOOTING: Western District -- A resident of the 1000 block of W. Lanvale St. was listed in serious condition at the University of Maryland Medical Center after being shot in the neck by an unknown gunman near his home Monday.
ROBBERY: Western District -- Two men, one with a shotgun, robbed a resident of the 2200 block of Etting St. of $100 in the 1200 block of W. North Ave. Monday.
THEFT: Southern District -- Someone entered a rented car parked in the 900 block of Covington St. Monday and stole jewelry, clothing and a camera, all valued at $2,000, after breaking a window.
ROBBERY: North Point District -- A resident of the 3600 block of Valley Terrace in Woodlawn was walking across the Eastpoint Mall parking lot in the 7800 block of Eastern Blvd. Monday morning after cashing a check at Checks Cashed Express in the 200 block of North Point Blvd. when he was robbed of more than $100 by two men, one with a large-caliber handgun.
BURGLARY: North Point District -- Someone entered the Owl Corp., a recycling business in the 1900 block of Rettman Lane, between Saturday and Monday and stole a red 1985 Honda motorbike, a black Kawasaki 100 motorbike and a motorcycle helmet.
STOLEN CAR: North Point District -- A 1989 Pontiac Grand Am with Maryland tags TNJ549 was stolen from the 7000 block of Gough St. sometime Sunday or Monday.
STOLEN CARS: Towson District -- Two cars, a 1988 Acura Legend with Maryland tags 371APJ and valued at $10,000 and a 1992 Acura Legend with Maryland tags ZVH081 and valued at $32,000, were stolen from the 8300 block of Thornton Road Sunday or Monday.
STOLEN CAR: Towson District -- A 1990 Chevrolet Chevette with Maryland tags RBG572 was stolen Monday from the garage at the Towson Town Center in the 800 block of Dulaney Valley Road.
BURGLARY: Towson District -- Someone entered a house in the 1800 block of Loch Shiel Road Monday by removing the molding from a basement door and ransacked several rooms. It was not known what, if any, property was stolen.
