Salon contest to feature executive Show to benefit AIDS patients

Nearly 40 models, including County Executive Eileen M. Rehrmann, are expected to parade down the runway Sunday in a salon competition to benefit AIDS patients in Harford County.

The competition, at the Richlin Ballroom in Edgewood, is the first part of a two-part event sponsored by Recovery Friends Care, a group of Harford County people recovering from addictions who raise funds for charity.

The program will continue in the evening with a dinner-dance and a revue by members of RFC.

The salon competition, which begins at 3 p.m., will pit a dozen different salons from Harford and Baltimore counties against one another for prizes in four categories.

Mrs. Rehrmann, who will represent a Bel Air salon, will appear in the celebrity category. Others will be modeling hair styles and clothing in the daytime/career, evening/glamour and fantasy/vogue categories. Each participating salon has donated

$200 as an entrance fee.

The benefit continues in the ballroom at 7 p.m. with an awards presentation to the winning salon owners, dinner, an hourlong variety show and dancing.

The variety show, "ALas Vegas/Broadway Salute," will feature singing, dancing, music and comedy. The reigning Miss Maryland, singer Renee Cole, and Baltimore comedian Andre Brown will join in the production.

Tickets to the evening events are $30 a person or $55 a couple, which includes admission to the salon competition. Tickets for the revue and dance only are $15.

Admission to the competition only is $10.

Reservations for all evening events must be made in advance by calling RFC at 612-9921.
