Overlea tops Catonsville in soccer, 2-1

Junior midfielder Mike Tirschman scored the game-tying and game-winning goals to lift Overlea (5-0, 4-0) to a 2-1 victory against visiting Catonsville (2-3, 1-3) in a Baltimore County 3A-4A League boys soccer game yesterday.

* Chesapeake-AA 0, Old Mill 0: Old Mill (3-0-2) and Chesapeake-AA (2-2-1) finished in a scoreless tie in an Anne Arundel 4A League game.


* Pikesville 7, Milford Mill 1: Jeffery Curland scored three goals to help Pikesville (1-3) over Milford Mill.

* Bel Air 7, Edgewood 1: Jason Lockerman scored three goals and Chris Brosh two to help Bel Air (1-4) defeat Edgewood in a Harford County League game.


* Mervo 11, Lake Clifton 5: Junior Max Lyttle had three goals and three assists, as Mervo dropped Lake Clifton.

* North Harford 8, Joppatowne 1: Keith Smith had three goals and two assists to lead North Harford (3-0-1) past visiting Joppatowne in a Harford County League game.

* Parkville 2, Eastern Tech 1: Kevin Forrester scored two second-half goals, as visiting Parkville (2-3) defeated Eastern Tech, 2-1.

* Sparrows Point 7, Chesapeake-BC 3: Chris Butler and Jeffery Harrison scored two goals each to help Sparrows Point defeat host Chesapeake-BC.

* Hereford 5, Owings Mills 0: John Wingeart and Oaul Diangel scored two goals each to lead host Hereford (5-0-1) past Owings Mills (4-2).

* South Carroll 4, Francis Scott Key 0: South Carroll's Brian Peltier made six saves in a shutout of Key (2-5-1).

* John Carroll 4, Institute of Notre Dame 1: Krystin Porcella scored two goals to take the Patriots past the Indians.


* Keough 7, Mount Carmel 0: Kelly Weibe scored three goals and Eleanor Miller added two as host Keough defeated Mount Carmel (6-4).

* Western 5, City 0: Kerri Harman's hat trick helped host Western remain undefeated with a Baltimore City League win over City.

* Parkville 8, Eastern Tech 0: Deb Curan scored four goals and assisted on another, as Parkville (2-2) shut out host Eastern Tech (1-3). Amy Goetz added two assists for Knights.

Field hockey

* McDonogh 1, Mount Hebron 0: McDonogh's (5-1) Lynn Maciolek scored the winning goal in the Eagles' shutout of No. 12 Mount Hebron (2-3).
