Kyler's 205 yards lead No. 2 Poly, 54-6


Greg Kyler ran for 205 yards and three touchdowns on 11

carries yesterday as No. 2 Poly (5-0) rolled over visiting Douglass, 54-6, in a non-league game.

Kyler had first-quarter touchdown runs of 40 and 35 yards, and added another on a 45-yard run in the third quarter. Randy Beamen added two touchdowns for the Engineers. The Ducks fell to 2-3.

Patterson 34, Northwestern 6

Junior Ryan Lewis carried 11 times for 123 yards and four touchdowns to lead No. 10 Patterson (5-0) over host Northwestern (1-4) in a non-league game.

Dunbar 42, Southwestern 0

Johnny Sawyer rushed for 180 yards and two touchdowns as No. 12 Dunbar (4-1) defeated host Southwestern (1-4) in a non-league game.

St. Paul's 42, Northeast 0

John Solter rushed for 130 yards and two touchdowns before leaving the game with a broken ankle as the 15th-ranked Crusaders (4-1) routed host Northeast (2-3).

Solter, who entered the game as the area's leading rusher (802 yards), sustained the injury after returning the opening kickoff of the second half. St. Paul's coach Mitch Tullai said Solter will be not return this season.

Curley 36, Friends 6

Don Campbell and Chris Schwoy each scored two touchdowns as Curley (2-3) beat visiting Friends. Tim Asher was 4-for-4 on PATs.

Mervo 12, Northern 8

Antwoine Johnson's quarterback sneak with 50 seconds remaining handed Mervo (1-4) a come-from-behind victory over Northern (0-5) in a non-league game. Johnson threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Tremaine Neal for Mervo's other score.

Carver 7, Southern-B 0

Kevin Ellis ran back a blocked punt by Nathan Thomas for a touchdown as Carver (2-3) edged Southern (2-3) in a non-league game.

L Carver running back Troy Austin had 111 yards on 12 carries.

S. Carroll 35, N. Carroll 0

Greg Mihalko had a 14-yard touchdown run and a 66-yard pass interception return for a touchdown as host South Carroll (4-1) ripped North Carroll in a Carroll County League game.

Aberdeen 48, John Carroll 8

Nick Johnson rushed for 237 yards on 14 carries and scored three touchdowns as Aberdeen (2-3) shut out visiting John Carroll (1-4) in a Harford County League game. Adric Turner rushed for 121 yards on 13 carries and added two touchdowns for Aberdeen.

Mount St. Joe 60, Spalding 0

Jevon Morris rushed six times for 145-yards to lead Mount St. Joseph (1-4) over Spalding (0-5). Eddie Pailen's three first-half scored helped the Gaels to a 42-0 halftime lead.

Edgewood 35, H. de Grace 26

Keene Turner had 11 carries for 103 yards and Kenton Worthington had 16 carries for 89 yards as Edgewood topped Havre de Grace. Dwayne Whyte had two touchdown passes.

Sev. Park 35, Ches.-AA 14

Mark Frye ran for touchdowns of 11, 17 and 18 yards to lead No. 13 Severna Park (4-1) past host Chesapeake-AA. Chris Hite rushed for both of Chesapeake's touchdowns.
