Yes, that was a tornado in 2 locations, at least
The National Weather Service determined yesterday that a tornado with winds up to 80 mph touched down Monday in Severna Park and Millersville.
A damage survey by the agency found "distinct evidence of twisting action" in the damage to 100 trees at the Chartwell Country Club golf course in Severna Park.
Many of the trees were flung to the left and right of a 25-yard-wide path, the report said.
The golf course has been closed since Monday; officials hope to reopen it by Friday.
A tornado also touched down at the county landfill in Millersville, about five miles west of the golf course, the weather service said.
A tool shed at the landfill was flung about 150 feet by the storm. Two employees who sought shelter from the storm in the shed were not seriously injured.
