Driver accused of fleeing from routine traffic stop
A motorist who fled when a county police officer tried to stop him for a routine traffic violation was arrested Sunday after a police dog tracked him through Arnold for nearly half a mile, county police said yesterday.
Police said an officer tried to stop the car on Church Road about 3:50 a.m., but it continued to Arnold Elementary School, where the driver jumped out.
The police dog tracked the man to thickets near Ritchie Highway. Wayne Devee Watts, 35, of the 100 block of W. Earleigh Heights Road, Severna Park, was charged with fleeing and eluding police and driving on a suspended license.
