Arnold man shot at Annapolis store
A man shot in the shoulder Sunday outside a liquor store near Annapolis has been released from the hospital while county police continue to search for a suspect.
John Robert DeStefano, 31, of the 800 block of Windsong Drive in Arnold, told police he had left a party in Crofton shortly before 10 p.m. and was at Fuller's Package Goods on Bestgate Road when he was shot.
Police said a man approached the van Mr. DeStefano was driving and said, "I know you, I know where you live," and then shot the man once in the left shoulder.
The man opened fire, hitting the van at least once as it raced out of the parking lot, police said.
The man said he drove home, called his wife, who was still at the party, and told her he was shot. He then called an ambulance and was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center.
Mr. DeStefano's wife told police that her husband had left the party to pick up some outside lighting at his house. The victim told police he was on his way to his house when the shooting occurred, according to a police report on the incident.
But police said in the report that the outdoor lights already were ++ in the van.
The police report also says the man had consumed three large rum drinks and two beers before leaving the party. Police said there were two bullet holes in the van.
No reason was given in the report for the shooting.
