CARJACKING: Western District -- A resident of the 100 block of Cypress Court in eastern Baltimore County was stopped in the 700 block of Whitmore Ave. Tuesday night when a gunman approached and demanded his money. When the motorist refused, the gunman ordered him out of the car and drove off.

ASSAULT: Western District -- A cabbie driving in the 1800 block of Edmondson Ave. Tuesday night stopped when he saw a man lying in the street, the victim of a serious beating. The victim, a resident of the 700 block of N. Fulton Ave., was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A resident of the 2700 block of Guymore Ave. was using a telephone in the 1800 block of Baker St. Tuesday night when a man placed an unknown object in his back and demanded his car keys. The assailant then drove off in the victim's car.

THEFT/ARREST: Western District -- Police arrested a man who entered a house Wednesday in the 200 block of N. Schroeder St. and stole a TV.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Someone entered the Valley Tavern in the 1600 block of Union Ave. after breaking a pane of glass in the front door with a rock Wednesday morning and stole a 12-pack of beer.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Police were seeking two men who entered St. John's Methodist Church in the 2600 block of St. Paul St. through a side door Tuesday night and stole two table fans and a pedestal fan, all valued at $60.

BURGLARY: Northern District -- Fifty cartons of cigarettes and several containers of soft drinks, all valued at more than $1,100, were stolen from J & J Restaurant in the 2400 block of St. Paul St. Tuesday night.

STOLEN CAR: Northern District -- A 1988 Legend with Maryland license plates WYN744 was stolen from the 3900 block of Beech Ave. between Tuesday and Wednesday.

THEFT: Northern District -- Someone entered a 1984 Toyota parked on Nutmeg Terrace in Cold Spring New Town Tuesday or Wednesday through an unlocked door and stole cassette player and other property, all valued at nearly $500.

BURGLARY: Central District -- Someone entered an apartment in the 1600 block of Druid Hill Ave. Wednesday and stole property valued at more than $2,700.

STOLEN CAR: Central District -- A 1989 Ford with Maryland license plates TSX393 was stolen from the 1200 block of Bolton St. Tuesday or Wednesday.

THEFT: Central District -- Property valued at more than $500 was stolen from a house in the 1100 block of St. Paul St. by a person who recently moved away.

THEFT: Central District -- Someone entered a 1989 Toyota parked in the 200 block of W. Lombard St. by breaking a window Tuesday and stole property valued at $500.

THEFT: Central District -- Property valued at more than $200 was stolen from a 1989 Mercury parked in the 200 block of W. Lombard St. Wednesday.

THEFT: Central District -- A compact disc player valued at $600 was stolen from the appliance room of the Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. in the first block of W. Lexington St. Wednesday afternoon.

Baltimore County

ARSON/ARREST: Essex District -- A Mars Estates man was arrested early today and charged with setting fire to his ex-girlfriend's apartment in the Village of Tall Trees by throwing a Molotov cocktail through her living room window. The fire, which caused extensive damage to the living room and kitchen of the apartment in the 1600 block of Doolittle Road, forced the 24-year-old woman and her four children, ages 10 months and 2, 4 and 6 years, to flee uninjured. Several other residents of the eight-unit apartment building also were forced to evacuate. Arrested a short distance away from the fire by Officers James Graham and Michael Schmitz and charged with attempted murder, arson and possession of a Molotov cocktail was Charles Cash, 21, of the 1600 block of Essextowne Court. Police said the man and woman broke up last week.
