Polecats' power defeats Suns, 8-3


ALBANY, Ga. -- Eric Chavez hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning to help lead the Albany Polecats past the Hagerstown Suns, 8-3, in a South Atlantic League Single-A game last night.

Chavez' 15th home run of the year broke a 1-1 tie to give the Polecats (14-12) a 3-1. Albany then went on to add five runs on four hits in the seventh inning to pull away.

Mike Coolbaugh and Ricky Cradle each added home runs for the Suns (16-11).

Matt Jarvis (10-6) pitched a complete game for the win. Trevor Mallory (6-7) got the loss for Hagerstown.
