Man charged with apartment break-in in Arnold
A 30-year-old Arnold man was arrested Thursday after he broke into his neighbor's apartment while the occupant was locked inside her bedroom, police said.
Robert James Dobrzykowski, of the 600 block of Oakland Mills Drive, was charged with breaking and entering.
Police were called to the apartment shortly before 12:30 a.m. by a woman who said a man had broken into her apartment through a rear window. She told the dispatcher she had locked herself in the bedroom.
When a police officer arrived, he said, he found the man in the back of the apartment building. He also found evidence of a break-in.
Three are charged in residential burglary
An 18-year-old Arnold man and two juveniles have been charged with burglary at a Magothy Road home.
John David Heverly, of the 100 block of Cresston Road in Arnold, was arrested about 10 p.m. Friday and charged with burglary and theft at a home in the 700 block of Magothy Road. Two juveniles, whose ages and addresses were unavailable, also were arrested.
Police said an officer was called to the Magothy Road home about 9:45 p.m. to take a report on the burglary. While on patrol later that evening, the officer saw two men lying on a sidewalk in the 600 block of Brandywine Ave.
The officer stopped to investigate and searched a bag that one of the young men had. He recognized the contents of the bag as property from the burglary. After obtaining additional information from the two young men, the officer arrested them and then the third suspect later.
Police could not say what was stolen or provide its value.
Police said property from the burglary also was recovered from the Twin Oaks Park and the home of one of the youths.
Council opposes request for zoning change
The Greater Severna Park Council voted last week to oppose a re-zoning request by Joseph Langlois to continue to operate his 10-year-old auto repair business from his home on Ritchie Highway.
Mr. Langlois had asked the Board of Appeals to overturn decisions by county planners to reclassify his 3.8-acre parcel on the east side of the highway so he can keep his business open.
The Greater Severna Park Council has opposed the request because it is not part of a comprehensive rezoning package.
The property is zoned R-2, low-density residential, and Mr. Langlois is requesting a C-4 commercial classification. If the property is not rezoned, Mr. Langlois will have to move his business.
