Eastport slaying suspect is held on $75,000 bail
The suspect in the Monday night slaying of an Eastport man has been ordered held on $75,000 bail by a District Court judge.
Richard Sterling Crowner, 18, of the 1800 block of Bowman Court was arrested Tuesday night by Annapolis police. He appeared Wednesday before Judge Clayton Greene Jr.
Police said Mr. Crowner claimed that he armed himself against the victim, Sylvester R. Green, 30, of Eastport, because Mr. Green had threatened him.
Mr. Crowner, who is being charged with first-degree murder and the use of a handgun in the commission of a crime, told Judge Greene that he would be seeking a public defender.
* Davidsonville: Thieves took four trees that had just been planted at a housing development in the 800 block of Central Ave. between Saturday and Monday, county police reported.
* Capetowne: Burglars took stereo equipment and other property valued at $1,540 from a home in the 600 block of Broad Neck Road between 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday.
