* Masuji Ibuse, 95, a prominent Japanese novelist, died Saturday of pneumonia in a Tokyo hospital. He had been hospitalized since June 24. He was best known for his longest novel, "Kuroi Ame" (Black Rain), which he wrote in 1966 about the people and city of Hiroshima after the atomic bombing. The book was translated into English and made into a movie.
