Seven-run fourth powers Baysox by Yankees, 14-3


ALBANY, N.Y. -- Jason Alstead's three-run homer capped a seven-run fourth inning and led the Bowie Baysox to a 14-3 rout of the Albany Yankees last night in a Double-A Eastern League game.

Every Baysox batter had at least one hit, and Bowie had season-highs in doubles (eight), runs in an inning (seven), runs in a game (14) and margin of victory (11).

Eric Schullstrom (5-5) gave up three runs on eight hits in seven innings, striking out three.

Albany starter Darren Hodges (7-4) lasted just 3 2/3 innings, allowing 11 runs on 12 hits.

Albany designated hitter Rich Barnwell pitched the last two innings, giving up two hits and striking out two without allowing a run.
