Woman charged in stabbing of Crofton man
A 28-year-old Crofton man remained in serious but stable condition yesterday at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after being stabbed in the chest Sunday.
Kenneth Lee Corley entered Laura Jean Warden's apartment in the 900 block of Eastham Court in Crofton about 6:45 p.m. Sunday and the two engaged in a verbal, then physical, confrontation, police said.
Police said the 22-year-old woman grabbed a kitchen knife and threw it at Mr. Corley. The knife entered Mr. Corley's chest and remained there until he pulled it out, police said, after which he ran to his own apartment, in the same building.
Ms. Warden was arrested at a neighbor's house and charged with battery and assault with intent to maim, police said.
6 shots miss youth outside pool hall
A 17-year-old youth was shot at six times early Saturday morning outside a Crofton pool hall, but police said he was not hit by any of the bullets.
The incident occurred about 2:30 a.m. outside Chalk Talk in the 2100 block of Priest Bridge Drive.
Police said the youth, whom they would not identify, was standing on the front steps when he saw another teen-ager drive into the lot. Sensing trouble, police said, he walked away from his friends and across the parking lot.
County police said the other youth got out of the car, shouted at the 17-year-old, then fired six shots in his direction. He then got back in the car and drove away, police said.
