For Love of Luxury

Winter white bathes the bath in understated luxury. The palette of white and cream also offers a rich, yet delicate contrast, visually expanding the space. This bathroom in a renovated Mount Washington town house is a masterwork, each inch a tribute to the marriage of practicality and art. The bath, formerly a tiny space, was redesigned by Lynne Abrams of Details Inc., Innovative Kitchen and Bath Design. She expanded it by stealing space from an adjoining, little-used closet. To make the most of the new 10-foot by 12-foot area, she had Gordon Sennett Enterprises install attractive storage spaces with lots of nooks and cranies, including cubicles for rolled-up towels.

The traditional styling of the lacquered white cabinets is accentuated by the use of cream-colored molding that is carried throughout, including on the bathtub platform and in the crown molding. Beveled mirror work inserts are also surrounded by the molding.

All of the lighting, including twin plaster wall sconces, are on dinners. Simple, cut-crystal hardware knobs are used as cabinet pulls. The result is fantasy without fuss, in a room that lives much larger than it is.
