Residents urged to weigh BWI plans
The Greater Severna Park Council BWI Committee chairman is urging members to decide whether expansion of the Baltimore- Washington International Airport is in their best interests and to inform their elected officials of their opinions.
"The governor's plan to create an airport authority to promote and expand BWI operations will undoubtedly bring more noise over our communities," Rick Zablocki said. "Any perceived economic benefits must be weighed against their potential impact on the quality of life in our communities."
The chairman also said that the shift by the Federal Aviation Administration of some landing approaches over different areas of Severna Park, Millersville and I-97 is receiving mixed reviews from affected residents.
People who had never complained before are complaining now, and others don't believe there has been much of a change, he said.
