Women over 45 sought for softball league
A retired school secretary from Brooklyn Park is trying to form Maryland's first softball league for women over 45. Janet Hull, a member of a senior women's team that won the gold medal in the 1991 U.S. National Senior Sports Classic, is seeking women to play in a league in the Baltimore region.
Since there is no organized league for senior women in the state, Ms. Hull drives twice a week to Vienna, Va., to play softball on the Golden Girls, a senior league with five teams that has grown from 15 to 100 members in five years.
Ms. Hull said she hopes the Maryland team could eventually enter tournaments.
Anyone interested in playing should call Ms. Hull at 789-8556.
