Charles Wyatt Boone, a retired USF&G; vice president, died Tuesday of a heart attack at his home in Phoenix, Baltimore County. He was 71.
Mr. Boone retired in 1991 after 41 years with the insurer.
Born and reared in Berry, Ala., Mr. Boone attended Auburn University for a year before enlisting in the Army Air Forces in 1942. He was based in England for four years, and was a navigator on bombing missions over Germany.
Mr. Boone was an active fisherman, who also enjoyed hunting and gardening, and was a member of Masonic organizations.
After his retirement, Mr. Boone became active as the head usher at the Epworth United Methodist Church, at 600 Warren Road in Cockeysville, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, the former Mildred Lynn Chitwood; a daughter, Susan B. Mickey of Bradenton, Fla.; a son, Charles Wyatt Boone Jr. of Arlington, Va.; a sister, Willie B. Mosley of Northport, Ala; a grandchild; a stepgrandchild, and a nephew.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Epworth Church.
