Next at Spotlighters: 'Bathroom Humor'
Bedroom farces often have their share of bathroom humor, so "Bathroom Humor," by Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore, would appear to be the next logical step. Presented at the Spotlighters, 817 St. Paul St., for four weekends beginning Friday, the comedy will mark the directorial debut of Anne Pardoe.
And, thanks to its bathroom setting, it may be one of the only scripts whose set fits the scale of the tiny Spotlighters stage. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through June 27. Tickets are $8 and $9. For more information, call (410) 752-1225.
@ Ansel Adams (1902-1984) is surely one of the best known of all American photographers. His majestic landscapes of Yosemite National Park and other Western subjects helped sustain America's image as a land of great natural beauty. Less well known are some of the other subjects that occupied him, especially in his earlier years, including portraiture, cityscape and people in informal moments.
All of these are included in "Ansel Adams: The Early Years," an exhibit organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and opening at the Baltimore Museum of Art Wednesday. Devotees of Adams' dramatic landscapes should have no fear; while other subjects are explored, the West that Adams loved and made us love is the star here. The show will be at the Baltimore Museum of Art, Art Museum Drive, near Charles and 31st streets, through Sept. 12. Call (410) 396-7100.

Drawings by Hopper at Salisbury State
Edward Hopper (1882-1967), one of the most beloved American painters of the 20th century, created works which express a sense of solitude and quiet that speaks to the age's existential alienation. He is not known for his drawings, but there will be a rare exhibit of 35 of them at Salisbury State University beginning Saturday.
Known as the J. Anton and Laurence C. Schiffenhaus Collection, the drawings were discovered at Hopper's summer cottage in Truro, Cape Cod, Mass., after the artist and his wife had died and the cottage had passed to the Schiffenhaus family. The drawings include studies for some of the artist's well-known paintings, among them "High Noon" and "Cape Cod Morning." The exhibit will also include color reproductions of 10 of the paintings. The exhibit will be shown at the University Gallery in Fulton Hall of Salisbury State College, 1101 Camden Ave., Salisbury, through June 25. Call (410) 543-6030.
