Council elects Kathryn Riley as vice president
The Manchester Town Council elected Councilwoman Kathryn L. Riley vice president Wednesday night at its reorganizational meeting following the May 18 council election.
The mayor serves as president of the council, said Town Manager Terry L. Short. The vice president presides over council meetings when the mayor is absent.
Councilman John A. Riley nominated Mrs. Riley, his sister-in-law, to the position. Councilwoman Charlotte B. Collett seconded the nomination.
The council voted 3-0 for Mrs. Riley. Councilman Robert Kolodziejski was absent, and Mrs. Riley abstained.
* Hampstead: Engines from the Hampstead fire company responded to a pole fire on Gill Avenue at 11:59 a.m. Tuesday. Units were out for 30 minutes.
