Elderly N.Y. couple killed in collision in Crofton
CROFTON -- An elderly husband and wife from New York were killed yesterday when the car they were riding in pulled onto Davidsonville Road in front of a dump truck, Anne Arundel County police said.
Charles A. Raedy and Anna H. Raedy, both 70, were pronounced dead at the scene of the 10:40 a.m. accident. They live in the 700 block of Fresh Pond Ave. in Calverton.
Police had few details of the accident last night.
They said Mr. Raedy, driving a 1986 Chevrolet, pulled from the exit ramp of eastbound U.S. Route 50 into the southbound lanes of Route 424 when he crossed in front of the truck.
The truck driver, Wallace Ross Frantum, 41, of the 100 block of Gibson Road in Annapolis, suffered minor injuries and was taken by ambulance to Anne Arundel Medical Center. He was released yesterday afternoon.
Severn woman charged in stabbing of man
A Severn woman has been charged with assault with intent to murder for allegedly stabbing a man during an argument in her home Wednesday, county police said yesterday.
Sina Victoria Martin, 21, of the 1800 block of Arwell Court, also was charged with assault with intent to maim and battery, police said.
According to the police report, Ms. Martin and Lamont Raymond Ayers, 20, were arguing in Ms. Martin's home about 3 p.m. when she allegedly grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed him in the arm.
Police said Mr. Ayers grabbed Ms. Martin and threw her down on the ground, but Ms. Martin got up and stabbed him again with the scissors.
Mr. Ayers, of the 1800 block of of East Northern Parkway, refused to be taken by paramedics to the hospital.
