Cardinals defeat Suns in 10th, 7-6


SAVANNAH, Ga. -- Joe McEwing singled in Garrett Blanton in the bottom of the 10th to lead the Savannah Cardinals (31-14) over the Hagerstown Suns (21-24), 7-6, in a Double-A South Atlantic League game last night.

With one out in the 10th, Blanton was hit by a pitch from losing pitcher Ned Darley (0-1). Blanton advanced to third when Charlie Anderson singled, and came home with two outs when McEwing singled.

Savannah has won eight in a row, Hagerstown has lost nine straight. The Suns head to Spartanburg, S.C., for two games, then return to Hagerstown for an 11-game homestand.

Jeff Matulevich pitched one scoreless inning to earn the win for the Cardinals.
