Donation box stolen from Lutheran church

Someone broke into a Glen Burnie church last week and stole the donation box containing an undetermined amount of money.

Police said the rear door had been forced open and a donation box ripped from the wall of the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 7600 block of Quarterfield Road.

The break-in occurred between Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning. The office of the pastor and secretary also was broken into.

Also reported missing were postage stamps, a business check and a deposit slip.

Deli owner's 'no' ends robbery attempt

The owner of a Glen Burnie deli thwarted an armed robbery Friday morning by telling a man with a gun to leave, police said.

Police said a man walked into Harold's Deli, in the 1200 block of Crain Highway, just after 9 a.m., briefly looked at the menu and started to leave.

Before reaching the door, however, he pointed a gray automatic weapon at Harold Marvin Prince, 67, of Baltimore, police said.

County police said the armed man asked for Mr. Prince's watch. Mr. Prince said "no," and the man ran out of the store, police said.
