Driver shot while being followed on Route 175 WEST COUNTY -- Crofton * Odenton * Fort Meade * Gambrills

A man driving on Annapolis Road near Fort Meade was shot at several times Saturday morning by one of four men in a car that was following him for no apparent reason, county police said.

Madison Raymond Lyons, 44, of Hanover, told police that he was driving west on Route 175 about 1 a.m. when he noticed a white Toyota following him.

He said he turned north onto Ridge Road, and the Toyota pulled up beside him. One of the men in the Toyota began firing a handgun, striking the car several times.

Police said Mr. Lyons' foot was grazed by a bullet, and a passenger in his car, Gloria Robertson, 27, also of Hanover, was hit with flying glass. The injuries were not serious and did not require medical attention.

Woman stabs man during argument

A man who tried to break up a fight between his daughter and another woman Friday night in Severn was stabbed, police said.

Wyatt Tyrone Evans, 30, of the 1800 block of Arwell Court, was stabbed in the back and upper arm and drove himself to North Arundel Hospital, where he was in good condition Saturday.

Carolyn Eleanor Green, 40, who lives across the street from Mr. Evans, was charged with assault with intent to murder.

County police said Ms. Green's daughter came to her and complained that Mr. Evans touched her, setting off the dispute ++ between Ms. Green and Mr. Evans' daughter. "The suspect approached the victim, briefly engaged in conversation and began stabbing the victim in the back," a police statement says.

College interviewer robbed at Meade High

An administrator of Anne Arundel Community College who was interviewing students at Meade High School for possible admission had her wallet stolen Thursday.

Ramona Green, 54, told police that she had put her pocketbook on a chair while she talked to a group of 12 to 15 students Thursday between 7:30 and 11 a.m.

She noticed the wallet, which contained $120 in cash and credit cards, missing when she got up to leave.

School officials interviewed the students, but all denied the theft.
