ROBBERY TRY/SHOOTING: Southern District -- A gunman shot a South Baltimore man during a robbery attempt in the 1000 block of Leadenhall St. Thursday evening. The victim, a 24-year-old resident of the 700 block of W. Hamburg St., was shot in the left side about 6:30 p.m. when he turned to run after the gunman demanded his money. The gunman escaped, and the victim was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.

SHOOTING: Western District -- A passenger in a van traveling in the 3400 block of Woodbrook Ave. late Thursday night was shot in the head when several shots were fired at the vehicle. The victim, a 21-year-old resident of the 3300 block of Woodland Ave., was sitting in the passenger seat at 11:35 p.m. when a gunman fired several shots at the van. One of the bullets pierced a window and struck the victim in the back of the head. The bullet failed to penetrate the man's skull, but instead lodged itself under the skin. The man was taken to the Liberty Medical Center for treatment. The gunman escaped.

CHURCH BURGLARY:Western District -- Someone entered the Siloam Freewill Baptist Church in the 400 block of N. Fulton Ave. Wednesday night or Thursday morning through a side window and stole appliances valued at $500.

ASSAULT: Western District -- Police were seeking a 30-year-old man who struck his ex-girlfriend on the left leg with a piece of metal pipe then hit her brother in the chest with the pipe during an argument at the woman's house in the 2400 block of Baker St. Wednesday night. Neither victim was seriously injured.

ASSAULT/ARREST: Western District -- Police arrested a man who pointed a 9mm semiautomatic handgun at a woman in her home in the 600 block of Baker St. Thursday.

STOLEN CAR: Western District -- A Ford sedan with Maryland plates AGB391 and owned by the Cloverland Dairy in the 2200 block of N. Monroe St. was stolen from the company parking lot Thursday.

ROBBERY: Western District -- A resident of the 1000 block of N. Fulton Ave. was in the 1200 block of N. Carey St. Thursday night when he was attacked by several men who beat him with their fists and robbed him of $55.

THEFT: Western District -- Someone stole the ATM card of a resident of the 1900 block of Herbert St. Thursday and withdrew $1,000 from her account at a bank at Mondawmin Mall.

SHOOTING: Northwestern District -- A man walking in the 5400 block of Reisterstown Road Wednesday night was shot in the right leg by a gunman who escaped. The vicitim, of the 1500 block of N. Carey St., was taken to Sinai Hospital .

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Someone entered a house in the 2600 block of Chelsea Terrace Wednesday through a rear basement window and stole property valued at more than $1,000.

RAPE: Northwestern District -- Police were seeking a man who attacked a woman in the 5700 block of Gwynn Oak Ave. Wednesday night and raped her. The victim was taken to the University of Maryland Medical Center for treatment .

STOLEN CAR: Northwestern District -- A 1990 Acura Legend with Maryland plates RWX589 was stolen

from the 6800 block of Cross County Boulevard Thursday .

THEFT/ARREST: Northwestern District -- Police arrested a man who entered a house in the 4000 block of Fordleigh Road Thursday morning and stole a necklace.

THEFT: Northwestern District -- Someone entered a house in the 4100 block of Fairview Ave. Wednesday and stole more than $100 from the pockets of a jacket.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- A gunman robbed the 7/Eleven store in the 6400 block of Reisterstown Road of $25 and several cartons of cigarettes early Thursday.

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Lawn care equipment valued at more than $400 was stolen from a storage shed in the 3900 block of Fairview Ave. Thursday by someone who entered by forcing a door.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- A resident of the 2900 block of Springhill Ave. was leaving her apartment about 2 a.m. Thursday when a man pushed her against the stairway wall, struck her in the face and robbed her of $100.

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Property valued at $500 was stolen from a house in the 2500 block of Violet Ave. Thursday.

ROBBERY: Northwestern District -- A gunman was in the 4000 block of Park Heights Ave. Thursday when he robbed a resident of the 3700 block of Cottage Ave. of an undisclosed sum.

BURGLARY: Northwestern District -- Property valued at $125 was stolen from a house in the 3500 block of Park Heights Ave. Thursday.

Baltimore County

STAND-OFF: Garrison District -- A despondent military veteran, who threatened to kill himself Friday in his home in the 600 block of Leafy Dale Terrace, surrendered to police and was taken to the Veterans Administration Hospital in Baltimore. The man called police about 3 a.m. and said he was going to kill himself and that he was armed with a shotgun, handgun and a knife. Police officers and a negotiator talked to the man for about two hours before he walked out of his house and was arrested without incident. No one else was in the house.

ROBBERY: Towson District -- A resident of the 600 block of McCabe Ave. in Govans, in the city, was stopped at a traffic light at York Road and Pennsylvania Avenue at 2:30 a.m. today when two men, one with a handgun, robbed him of a gold ring and cash, all valued at more than $300. Before the men fled, they forced the victim to swallow an unknown pill. After reporting the robbery, the victim was taken to the Greater Baltimore Medical ++ Center for treatment of stomach pains.

STOLEN CAR: Towson District -- A 1985 Toyota Cressida owned by a resident of Mopec Circle in Perry Hall and with Maryland plates YXR088 was stolen from the parking garage at Towson Town Center in the 800 block of Dulaney Valley Road Thursday.

BURGLARY TRY: Parkville District -- A man attempted to enter Friendship Enterprises in the 4100 block of E. Joppa Road Thursday by removing the hinge pins from the front door. The man fled when he couldn't gain entry. A nearby resident saw the man trying to enter the building and called the police.
