Man vaults counter to rob Pasadena store

A man described as a frequent customer of a Pasadena convenience store jumped over the counter Tuesday night and stole an undetermined amount of money, county police said.

The man waited until the clerk rang up a sale of a soda before jumping the counter at the Royal Farm Store in the 8400 block of Fort Smallwood Road, police said.

Police said the man first walked into the store at about 9:45 p.m. and asked for change. He left, but returned minutes later and carried a bottle of soda to the register.

After talking to the clerk about the weather, the man handed the clerk money for a soda. When the drawer was open, police said, the man jumped the counter, knocked over several displays and scooped up several bills from the register.

The suspect was described as a white male in his late 20s, 5 feet 9 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall. He has a thin build and was wearing round wire-rim glasses. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white T-shirt and white tennis shoes.
