Closer relations with officials are council goal

The Greater Severna Park Council will work more closely with public officials in an attempt to influence county legislation.

To stay better informed of future legislation and plans that might involve Severna Park residents, the council is planning a reception for elected officials, said GSPC President Pat Troy.

"We tend to work very closely with a few officials, but have limited contact with others," council leaders noted in a summary report.

Another public relations issue on the council's agenda is the warning that GSPC committees and committee chairs should not lead politicians to think that their own opinions are the official, voted positions of the council. Committees may only recommend positions to the GSPC, noted Ms. Troy.

GSPC policy refinements and greater involvement with county public officials are two of the steps suggested by the council study.
