Injured girl is 'stable' at Hopkins
A 7-year-old girl who apparently walked into the right fender of a moving car in front of her house was flown to the Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore Tuesday for treatment.
Ashley Amber Burns, of the 7400 block of Woodbine Road, was struck at 4:50 p.m. by a southbound car operated by Emil Edwin Swanson, 67, also of Woodbine.
Police said the child was thrown into the windshield of the automobile, which struck her as she tried to cross the road.
A spokeswoman at the Children's Center's pediatric intensive-care unit said yesterday the girl was listed in serious and stable condition.
No charges were filed against Mr. Swanson.
