Glenelg High teacher stars in premiere of his religious musical

Glenelg High School drama director Ron Oaks has written an original musical drama based on the life of Christ that will premiere May 22-23 in the Baltimore area.

Mr. Oaks will sing the part of Christ in the production.

"Return to Nazareth," based on Christ's struggle to persevere in his ministry, will be performed at 8 p.m. May 22 at Grace English Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8601 Valleyfield Road in Towson.

The second performance will be at 7 p.m. May 23 at Brown Memorial Woodbrook Presbyterian Church, 6200 N. Charles St. in Baltimore.

Tickets are $8 for general admission, $5 for students. They may be obtained by calling either church. A reception is scheduled after each performance.

Mr. Oaks, a graduate of the Peabody Institute, has taught drama at Glenelg for 10 years and directed productions such as "Fiddler on the Roof," "Camelot," and most recently, "Peter Pan."

He has sung with the Annapolis Opera Company and the Peabody Art Theatre.
