Parade to feature former senator as grand marshal GLEN BURNIE


Former state Sen. Al Lipin will serve as grand marshal for th sixth annual Glen Burnie Memorial Day parade.

Parade chairman Joseph Corcoran said Senator Lipin, who is recuperating at his Glen Burnie home from heart bypass surgery, will ride in a vintage convertible supplied by one of the area's antique car clubs.

Senator Lipin is a World War II Army veteran who received a Silver Star.

Two television newscasters also will ride in the May 30 parade, Mr. Corcoran said.

WJZ noon newscasters Sandra Pinckney and Don Scott will ride as guests of Vintage Tin and Lost in the '50s. Ms. Pinckney also is Channel 13's Healthwatch reporter, and Mr. Scott also is a co-anchorman for the station's newscast from 5:30 a.m. to 7 a.m.


* Glen Burnie: Thieves took the air bag from a 1992 Dodge parked in the lot of Tate Used Cars in the 7400 block of Ritchie Highway Sunday night. It was valued at $500.

* Glen Burnie: Burglars broke into the All State Insurance offices in the 7700 block of Ritchie Highway Friday and took a gum ball machine valued at $100.
