Top Male Jesse Whyte, Severna Park Gymnastics Whyte, a junior, won the Anne Arundel County and state all-around gymnastics championships at Old Mill with 40.9 points. Whyte was first in the parallel bars and floor exercise and second in the rings, pommel horse and high bar.
Samantha Miller, Glen Burnie
After losing a 2-0 heart-breaker to top-ranked Chesapeake (15-0) on Monday, Miller came back to shut out sixth-ranked Old Mill, 1-0, on a five-hitter with three strikeouts. She also homered and drove in four runs in a 22-0 romp over Meade.
Baseball Jason White, Chesapeake Baseball A junior pitcher/first baseman, White, who throws left and bats right, was 6-for-10 with six RBI, including a three-run homer that lifted the No. 8 Cougars (12-2) to a 5-4 victory over No. 9 Old Mill (9-5). White (4-1) was the winning pitcher in that game and had two RBI in a 7-7 victory over Annapolis (2-11).
Boys' Lacrosse Mike Ogden, Meade Ogden pumped in eight goals in two Mustangs victories last week, 9-4 over Northeast and 13-3 over Glen Burnie. Ogden also had four assists in the Glen Burnie triumph as Meade improved to 7-6.
Girls' Lacrosse Tracey Brown, Chesapeake Brown scored two goals in a wild 16-11 loss to No. 6 Broadneck ( 9-2) on Tuesday and three days later had five goals and two assists as the No. 12 Cougars (7-4) of coach Jim Buchan beat (4-7) Southern, 11-4.
Track Jamaal Dixon-Hawkins, Old Mill Dixon-Hawkins broke a 10-year-old record at the Patriots' Bob Golliday Invitational last week by heaving the shot put 52 feet. The Old Mill standout also won the discus with a toss of 13 feet, 8 inches.
