Name: Barbara Sturgell of Deale

AVolunteer work: For the second consecutive year, Mrs. Sturgell is volunteering her time and the use of her business, the Happy Harbor Inn, to play host to the area's American Heart Association Cardiac-Arrest fund-raiser.

The event features individuals, often familiar faces from the community, who are "arrested" and held until friends, family or co-workers raise enough money to bail them out. Bail is set by a real judge; the "jail" will be set up on the scenic deck of the restaurant.

The public is welcome to come by Mrs. Sturgell's establishment at 533 Deale Road on May 19 and and make donations.

"It's all done in good fun and for a worthy cause," said Mrs. Sturgell, who is chairing the event. Her goal is to exceed the $6,000 raised last year.

Mrs. Sturgell often donates her services or time to worthwhile causes. She has purchased equipment for local lacrosse teams, donated food to the Franklin Methodist Church for church functions, donated food to Tracy's Elementary School in support of programs there, played host to the teachers of Southern Middle School for breakfasts, sponsored two softball teams and co-sponsored the South County Lacrosse Club.

Volunteer's comment: "We try to get involved in anything that involves the community," says Mrs. Sturgell, who opened her restaurant in 1986.

Organization's comment: "She's a wonderful person, so well organized, very personable and willing to help the community," said Shirley Lieberman, area director for the American Heart
