Thank you for spending time with our premier issue of Distinction, a new magazine that celebrates personalities, pastimes and pleasures.
We've assembled some talented writers and photographers to produce what we hope will be a magazine that is as satisfying and stimulating to read as it is to look at.
In this issue, Rob "The Happy Eater" Kasper, a nationally recognized writer on the joyful consumption of all things delicious, writes about the staff of life, great breads from some of the area's finest bakeries (Page 25).
Baltimore-bred profilist Mary Corey follows home chefs from three outstanding restaurants and asks the age-old question: What's for dinner? Some surprising answers are divulged (Page 28).
Karol Menzie, the Baltimore Sun's award-winning food and home writer, creates a wondrous gallery of women and men who provide high-quality services to those with discriminating taste (Page 12).
And Mike Klingaman, the unfailingly amusing feature writer and columnist for The Sun, discovers what a collection of Baltimore celebrities must take with them when they jet away on vacation or business (Page 44).
In the months to come, we'll be back. Meantime, we'd like your response to our debut. Drop me a line at: Distinction, 501 N. Calvert St., Baltimore, Md. 21278 or FAX: (410) 783-2519
In addition, we've set up a special phone line for comments and suggestions about Distinction on SUNDIAL, the Baltimore Sun's telephone information service. Using a touch-tone phone, call 783-1800 and enter Category 4400.
