Here is a list of events in conjunction with Earth Day, Thursday.


March for Parks, a walk to raise money for projects to improve Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine. Register at 9 a.m.; walk begins at 10 a.m. Walkers will circle the fort twice and have a picnic lunch at noon. Call: (410) 625-3099.

Earth Day Fun Fair and flea market, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Owings Mills Volunteer Fire Hall, 10410 Reisterstown Road, will have a consumer trade show of local businesses, children's craft corner using household recyclables, information from area environmental groups, bake sale, refreshments and raffle. Marsh cleanup. Anacostia Watershed Society-sponsored cleanup of marsh along Kenilworth Drive, Prince George's County, 9 a.m. to noon. Call Robert Boone, (301) 513-0316.

Gunpowder Falls State Park Cleanup and Tree Planting. Join the Gunpowder Valley Conservancy, park officials and Save Our Streams at four locations from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call: (410) 592-2897 or (410) 661-1233 to register.

Four-Community Cleanup Rally in Calvert County. Communities of Western Shores, Governor's Run, Kenwood Beach and Scientists Cliffs will sponsor an all-day cleanup to beautify their neighborhoods. Call: Aileen Hughes, (410) 586-1570.

Calvert Marine Museum. Join the annual spring cleanup of the historic lighthouse and nearby oyster beds, 9 a.m. to noon. Call: Layne Bergin, (410) 326-2042. Cleanup of Colgate Creek. Representatives of firms and organizations around the southeast Baltimore community of St. Helena and local residents will clean up a portion of the Patapsco River tributary above the Seagirt Bridge, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. (410) 631-3386.


Tawes Awards Ceremony. Maryland Department of the Environment and the Maryland Petroleum Council honor businesses that make environmentally friendly petroleum products and gives the Youth Tawes Award, which recognizes outstanding young people for their contributions. Cleanup Project. More than 250 girls from Bryn Mawr, Western High, Garrison Forest, St. Timothy's and Oldfields schools will clean up a 6-mile stretch of stream in Gwynns Falls Park. Kick-off ceremony begins at 9 a.m.
