Blizzard costs town $2,544

The Blizzard of '93 cost Union Bridge more than $2,500 for four days, Councilman Donald Wilson said this week.

Stambaugh Construction Co. plowed the streets of town from March 14 through March 17. The bill for the work was $2,544.

The company also hauled snow away from the metered spaces by the town office building on Broadway at no charge, Mr. Wilson said.

New Windsor residents mull community watch

Residents concerned with the rise of vandalism in New Windsor have prompted the Town Council to organize a meeting about forming a community watch program.

A state trooper from the Westminster Barracks will discuss starting the program in town at 7 p.m. Monday at the New Windsor Fire Hall.

Councilwoman Rebecca H. Harman asked the council several months ago to look into beginning a neighborhood protection group that would involve town residents.

But the council did not act on the suggestion until similar opinions were expressed by residents during last month's council meeting.
