CENTRAL COUNTY--Arnold * Broadneck * Severna Park

Planners will discuss Crownsville

Three representatives from the county's Office of Planning and Zoning will present an overview of development plans for the Crownsville area at a civic association meeting Thursday.

The Generals Highway Council of Civic Associations asked the county in January to inform them of long- and short-term plans for the area the association covers, which extends from the Annapolis Mall to Veterans Highway and from the Severn River to Route 450.

"We hear so many rumors, we wanted to know what the county has in mind," said Lucille Pomraning, the council's zoning chairwoman.

The county representatives are expected to bring zoning maps that show how much of the area is already developed, as well as any planned expansion, she said.

The council is comprised of 22 community groups, as well as several dozen members who live along the highway and are not residents of any particular community.

The Thursday meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. in the state Housing and Community Development Building on Fairfield Loop in Crownsville. For more information, call 923-0229.
