Man charged with attempting to rob teen of Starter jacket

A teen-ager walking down a Pasadena street Friday afternoon was nearly robbed of his Starter jacket, county police reported.

Police said a man approached the youth about 4:45 p.m. at Tower Bridge Road and Marble Arch Drive and allegedly threatened him with a starter pistol resembling a .25- or .32-caliber handgun.

A man with the suspect urged him to leave the youth alone, and the suspect walked away without the jacket, police said.

August A. Berg, 19, of the 1600 block of Morrell Park Ave. in Baltimore was arrested a short time later by police officers who said they found the starter pistol in his right front pants pocket.

Mr. Berg was charged with attempted robbery, attempted theft and carrying a weapon.
