Driver hurt in crash on Woodbine Road

A 21-year-old Mount Airy woman was seriously injured when (( the car she was driving on Woodbine Road near Gillis Road slid on ice and careened into a utility pole at 7:40 a.m. yesterday.

Judith Lynne Kressig of 5100 block of Perry Road was flown tthe Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore by state police for treatment.

Police said Ms. Kressig was traveling south on Woodbine Road when she encountered a large, ice-covered section of the highway, lost control of the 1989 Dodge Shadow, crossed the northbound lane and hit the pole.

A hospital spokeswoman said she was admitted to the center in serious and stable condition.


* Mount Airy: Firefighters from the Mount Airy station assisted Frederick County on a house fire on Crickenberger Road at 7:09 p.m. on Wednesday. They were out for 40 minutes.
