Burglars steal 14 guns from Westminster store
Burglars broke into Albert's Hardware store in the first block of Pennsylvania Ave. Sunday and removed 14 handguns from a case within the store, Westminster police reported yesterday.
The weapons were new and used revolvers and semiautomatic weapons, police reported. Store owner Ruth Rammes told police the loss in the break-in totaled $3,489.
Ms. Rammes declined to comment on the theft yesterday, and city police officials would not release specific information about any of the stolen weapons.
* Westminster: Scaffolding equipment valued at $6,350 was stolen Thursday from a construction site at Parr's Ridge. According to police reports, some of the scaffolding was 32 feet long and would require a large truck to remove.
Property valued at $872 was stolen from the Board of Education office on Monroe Street after someone broke into the building on Monday. Elizabeth McCall reported the theft of a television and two pagers to police. The building is enclosed by a 6-foot-high fence, police said.
* Westminster: Westminster and Reese firefighters responded to a chimney fire in a house on Middle Grove Court at 7:40 p.m. Monday. They were out for 25 minutes.
