Tsukasa Watanabe started with consecutive birdies and finished with a 4-under-par 68, good for a one-shot lead with one round to play in the Japan PGA Tour's season-opening Token Cup in Kedoin.

* Paul Moloney of Australia shot a 4-under-par 68 and held a one-shot lead over countryman Richard Green after three rounds of the Singapore Open.

* Mayumi Murai battled strong winds to shoot a 72 for a one-shot lead over American Patty Sheehan and Fuki Kido after two rounds of the Japan LPGA tour's season-opening Daikin Orchid tournament in Tamagusukuson.


Veteran crew chief Maynard Yingst of Harrisburg, Pa., suffered a heart attack and died at Houston Raceway Park in Baytown, Texas. He was 43. NHRA officials said Yingst was stricken in the pit area where he and his crew were preparing the Chuck Etchells-driven Nobody Beats The Wiz Dodge Daytona for a qualifying run at the Slick 50 Nationals.
