A 23-year-old Cockeysville man who police said misfired several gunshots at his girlfriend and brother early yesterday was arrested about five hours later on charges of assault with intent to murder, reckless endangerment and battery.
Matthew Dreikorn of the 1100 block of Cold Bottom Road was being held on $100,000 bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
Police said Mr. Dreikorn and his brother Jason, 21, got home shortly after midnight and that the younger man left to pick up the older man's girlfriend.
When the two returned, police said, Matthew Dreikorn confronted them by placing the barrel of a 9-mm pistol into his mouth, threatening suicide. He wanted the woman to pull the trigger, police said.
After she refused and fled upstairs, the suspect followed and repeated his demand. When she refused again, police allege the suspect placed the gun to her head and threatened to kill her.
She escaped and locked herself in a car, but was followed by the older man. Later, after a struggle in which several shots were fired, the woman and the younger brother drove to the Cockeysville police station.
