Man, 18, dies from injuries

An 18-year-old Hanover man died Wednesday morning from injuries he sustained in January when his car ran off a road in Ellicott City and struck a utility pole, Howard County police said.

David Grayson Williams of the 6100 block of Shady Lane was injured about 11:30 p.m. Jan. 30 when his 1986 Ford Thunderbird ran off Montgomery Road, spun out of control and struck a utility pole, just south of Stonecrest Drive, police said.

He was taken to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where he remained hospitalized until he died at 10:37 a.m. Wednesday, a hospital spokeswoman said.

A 15-year-old passenger was taken to Howard County General Hospital after the accident, and was treated and released, police said.

Driver cited in three-car crash

A 32-year-old Monrovia woman was cited after she apparently ran a red light in Ellicott City on Wednesday, striking two cars, overturning one, Howard County police said.

Jane Elizabeth Hogg of the 12400 block of Linganore Woods Circle was charged with driving through a red light, police said. She was taken to Howard County General Hospital, where she was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.

Another driver, Chandra Lee Canterbury, 31, of the 3100 block of Pine Orchard Lane in Ellicott City, also was taken to Howard County General, where she was treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.

A third driver, Susannah Crawford, 22, of the 10700 block of Mid-Summer Lane, Columbia, sought treatment later, police said.

The accident occurred about 10 a.m. Wednesday on Baltimore National Pike at Pine Orchard Lane when a Ford Tempo ran a red light at Pine Orchard Lane, striking Ms. Crawford's Volkswagen Jetta, police said.

Both cars struck Ms. Canterbury's Chevrolet Camaro, police said. The Jetta flipped over upon impact, police said.
