Bowie Baysox (Double-A) -- Announced that Mitch Bibb, trainer for Single-A Frederick in 1991 and 1992, has been promoted to the same post with Bowie. Bibb replaces Kevin Harmon, last year's trainer at Hagerstown, who has been promoted to Triple-A Rochester.


NBA -- Fined Charlotte Hornets C Alonzo Mourning $3,500 for hitting the Indiana Pacers' Rik Smits during a game Friday.

New Jersey Nets -- Placed G Kenny Anderson on the injured list. Activated G Maurice Cheeks from the injured list.


Ball State -- Named Kit Cartwright offensive coordinator.

Cal State-Northridge -- Announced it will switch its football program from Division II to Division I-AA.

Edinboro -- Fired basketball coach Greg Walcavich.

Nevada -- Announced the contract of men's basketball coach Len Stevens will not be renewed for the 1993-94 season.

North Carolina-Asheville -- Announced the resignation of men's basketball coach Don Doucette, effective at the end of the season.
