Gilchrest to speak on Clinton's plans for economy

Rep. Wayne T. Gilchrest, who represents the newly redrawn 1st District, will appraise President Clinton's economic proposals March 19 at a speaking engagement in Gambrills.

The representative of the Eastern Shore and part of Anne Arundel County will be the speaker at the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce general membership meeting at Kaufmann's Tavern.

Mr. Gilchrest also will talk about the ways environmental bills will change during the Clinton administration.

The meeting will start at 11:15 a.m. The cost is $20 for members and $30 for nonmembers.

Father, son held on drug charges

A father and son were arrested Thursday after police found a small amount of cocaine and drug paraphernalia in their home.

Gary Wayne Brown, 40, and his son, Gary Wayne Brown Jr., 19, both of the 8200 block of WB&A; Road in Severn, were charged with possession of cocaine and paraphernalia.


* Severn: A resident of the 8100 block of Meade Village Road told police that burglars took $200 from the bedroom of her home Wednesday.

* Severn: Someone cut the locks off three trailers at the Millersville Landfill between Thursday night and Friday morning and stole computer equipment worth $5,210.
