Linthicum resident Angelisa Proserpi, daughter of Theresa Proserpi, has been selected as a state finalist in the Miss Maryland Teen-USA Pageant, scheduled for March 7 at the BWI Marriott Hotel.
Angelisa, 17, will compete against 40 Maryland teen-agers. Contestants will be judged on beauty, poise, personality, grooming and intelligence. The winner will represent Maryland in the 1993 Miss Teen-USA Pageant, which will be telecast live on CBS-TV in August.
Angelisa is an honor student at North County High School and was homecoming queen this year. She participates in several high school activities, including theater, Students Against Drunk Driving, the Assembly Committee and the Pom Squad. She also is vice president of the Drama Club.
A talented singer, Angelisa has sung at weddings and other community events. Her hobbies include writing music and poetry, and playing tennis and the piano. She also enjoys swimming and is a certified Maryland lifeguard.
Her sponsors are Utley's Transportation Services, Friends of North County High School and her mother.
The Ferndale United Methodist Women will meet at 7 p.m. tomorrow in the church hall. Lenora Brown and Evelyn Arnold will conduct the program, called "A Call to Prayer and Self-Denial."

Story time for children ages 2 to 6 will begin this week at the Linthicum library. Daytime and evening sessions are planned to accommodate children and parents. No registration is needed.
The daytime schedule is 9:30 a.m. for children ages 3 to 6 and 11 a.m. for 2-year-olds, Wednesdays through March 17. Thursday evening story time for children ages 2 to 6 is scheduled for 7 p.m. through March 18.
Parents or care givers must accompany 2- and 3-three-year-olds.

St. John's Cooperative Nursery is celebrating 25 years of service to the community. To commemorate the occasion, the Linthicum library is sponsoring a history of St. John's in photos.
The Anne Arundel Gridiron Rebels Teen Center is sponsoring a Valentine's Day Dance from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday at Corkran Middle School. Admission is $2, but anyone wearing red clothing will be admitted for $1.
Lip-sync and dance contests are planned, with prizes for the winners.
Nine members of the North County High School Band have been selected to play in the All County Senior High Band. They will perform in concert at 3 p.m., Feb. 21 at South River High School.
Those selected were Kathryn McCordic and Wendy Bolly, flute; Todd Kelch and Michael Holy, saxophone; Scott Kelch and John Resuta, trumpet; N'Dinga Gaba, trombone; Gary Nesselroad, tuba; and Jonathan Menikheim, percussion.
Admission is $2, and tickets are available at the door.
* The next band parents meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m., Feb. 17. Tickets are still on sale for the 50/50 drawing, which will take place during the meeting. Tickets are available from band parents, or call the school at 859-5400.
