Chicago Cubs -- Agreed to terms with C Steve Lake on a one-year, $275,000 contract.

Detroit Tigers -- Agreed to terms with SS Alan Trammell on a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

Florida Marlins -- Agreed to terms with IF Chuck Jackson, IF Gus Polidor and C-1B Mitch Lyden on minor-league contracts and pTC assigned them to Edmonton of the Pacific Coast League.

New York Mets -- Agreed to terms with P Roger Mason on a one-year contract.

Salt Lake City -- Announced it has reached agreement with an unidentified minor-league ballclub that will upgrade its status to Triple-A and resume competing in the 1994 season.

Seattle Mariners -- Agreed to terms with P Chris Basio (Milwaukee, 16-6, 3.62 ERA) to a four-year, $14 million contract.

Reno Silver Sox (Single-A) -- The Seattle Mariners' California League team announced it will move to Riverside, Calif.

Yomiuri Giants (Japan) -- Signed OF Jessie Barfield to a one year, $1.7 million contract.


NBA -- Fined C Eddie Lee Wilkins, Philadelphia 76ers, $4,500; and F Charles Oakley, New York Knicks, and F-C Larry Krystkowiak, Utah Jazz, $3,500 each for flagrant fouls committed in recent games.

Boston Celtics -- Reclaimed G Bart Kofoed off waivers and signed him for the remainder of the season.

Capital Region Pontiacs (CBA) -- Traded the rights to F Cedric Lewis (Maryland) to the La Crosse Catbirds for C Stuart Gray.

Chicago Bulls -- Placed G Corey Williams (abdominal strain) on the injured list. Signed G Jo Jo English.

New Jersey Nets -- Activated C Dan O'Sullivan from the injured list. Placed C-F Jayson Williams on the injured list.

Philadelphia 76ers -- Activated C Charles Shackleford from the injured list. Placed C Eddie Lee Wilkins on the injured list.

Seattle Supersonics -- Re-signed F Steve Scheffler.


Centre -- Announced that Tom Bryant is stepping down as athletic director but will continue as men's basketball coach. Promoted Ray Hammond, vice president for student affairs, to athletic director, effective July 1.

Connecticut -- Announced that basketball G Rich Ashmeade has been released from his scholarship.

Eastern Connecticut -- Named Clyde Washburne women's interim softball coach.

Florida -- Announced that basketball F Ben Davis is transferring from Kansas at the end of the fall semester.

Missouri -- Extended the contract of football coach Bob Stull through the 1995 season.

St. Rose -- Named Chris Bakriges men's and women's tennis coach.

Tennessee -- Extended the contract of men's basketball coach Wade Houston through the 1995-96 season.

UCLA -- Announced the retirement of tennis coach Glenn Bassett.


Denver Broncos -- Signed P Darren Parker. Activated DB Alton Montgomery from IR and WR Cedric Tillman from the practice squad. Placed WR Derrick Russell on IR.

Miami Dolphins -- Placed LB Mark Sander and CB Bruce Alexander on IR. Signed LB Cliff Odom and CB Alfred Jackson. Waived DE Michael Brandon from the practice squad. Activated RB Aaron Craver from IR and placed him on the practice squad.

New York Jets -- Placed QB Ken O'Brien, RB Blair Thomas, T Irv Eatman and DE Dennis Byrd on IR. Re-signed RB A.B. Brown, T Brett Miller and QB Mike Norseth.

Phoenix Cardinals -- Waived WR John Jackson. Activated RB Eric Blount from the practice squad. Activated CB Steve Lofton from IR and placed him on the practice squad.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers -- Placed WR Mike Barber on IR. Added OL Dean Kirkland to the practice squad.
