CBYRA lists sailors who made the mark

Today's listing of top-rank sailors in the Chesapeake Bay Yacht Racing Association's high-point standings in the IMS, MORC and Multihull classes wraps up the Handicap Division results for 1992.

High-point scores are based on a ratio of actual performance to ideal performance, with each class' scoring formula founded in the number of boats beaten divided by the number of boats it could have beaten if every race entered had been won.

There are also provisions for bonus points and worst-race throw-outs, although each class within the division has procedures for exact calculations.

PHRF sailors are scored in one of the four geographic CBYRA regions, but there are only two divisions of IMS and MORC, with one roughly north of the Potomac River and the other south of it. Multihull bay sailors are scored one class.

All Handicap Division class winners are scored against each other without consideration of bonus points or worst-race throw-outs to determine the winner of the overall divisional Labrot Trophy. That should be announced in about two weeks, when CBYRA will have its annual general meeting followed by a luncheon and prize-giving on Dec. 19 at the Annapolis Marriott Waterfront Hotel.

For information on the meeting, luncheon, or awards presentation, or to make reservations, call CBYRA at (410) 269-1194.

Save your BOAT/U.S. receipts

CBYRA is asking for sales receipts from purchases made at BOAT/U.S. to earn points toward equipment in the Co-op Advantage Program sponsored by BOAT/U.S.

As part of this cooperative program, CBYRA members can join BOAT/U.S. for half-price ($8.50 a year).

CBYRA will earn 500 points for each new BOAT/U.S. member and will earn additional points at the rate of one per dollar with sales receipts from May 1 to Dec. 31, enabling the association to acquire equipment it otherwise would have to use reserve funds to purchase.
