A new educational travel program called Familyhostel introduced this year is being expanded by its sponsor, the University of New Hampshire Continuing Education. Familyhostel had one trip to the Netherlands this year and plans more.
The new program allows children, parents and grandparents to travel overseas together. Twenty-one parents and grandparents and 19 children took the 10-day August tour to the Netherlands, where they were housed in a conference center in a village near Utrecht and traveled each day to attractions in different parts of the country. The cost, without airfare, was $1,045 for adults and $975 for children.
For next year, Familyhostel is arranging a return visit to the Netherlands as well as stays in Paris, Prague, Switzerland and Mexico, said William F. Murphy, dean of University of New Hampshire Continuing Education. The cost of each tour will include meals, lodging, field trips, and social and cultural activities. Flights are extra.
