Gaithersburg grabs 4A title

COLLEGE PARK — COLLEGE PARK -- Running back Andre Parker scored fou touchdowns and Gaithersburg of Montgomery County had 322 yards rushing en route to a 39-21 victory over Prince George's County's Crossland in the Class 4A title game last night at the University of Maryland's Byrd Stadium.

Parker gained 147 yards and scored on runs of 11, 4 and 17 yards and a 27-yard pass from Eric Frazier. Backfield mate Mickey Myers added 134 yards.

Crossland (11-1) broke on top early, scoring on Derek Bell's 97-yard kickoff return and Vincent Young's 45-yard interception return for a 13-0 lead 59 seconds into the game.

Gaithersburg (11-1) came back to take a 14-13 lead at the end of the quarter, and after trailing, 21-14, at halftime, scored four unanswered second-half touchdowns.
